ISOP Migration as an Opportunity
Without Fear of Being Different
Every tenth citizen of Feldbach is an immigrant, and against this background, ISOP participates at regionale08. "Social work as well as artistic and scientific methods are correlated here," explains Robert Reithofer, Managing Director of ISOP. Exhibitions, interventions in the public space, and a conference all follow the main topic ‘Without fear of being different'. The opening of an ISOP counselling office in Feldbach should also have a lasting effect.
Meta and Marusa Krese present a literary and photographic dialogue with Turkish immigrants in Feldbach. Sihem Bensedrine, writer in exile in Graz, wants to correct images with her exhibition ‘Correction of the image', in which she displays manipulated postcards from her native Tunisia.
For the last few months, walks through the town have been prepared, which follow immigration and cultural diversity in Feldbach. ‘Integration and Borders': is the title of five interventions created in the public space by Anke Strittmater and several students of information design. ‘Foreign in a foreign place (life is great, because it keeps on turning)' is a play written collectively by a number of youths of different nationalities supported by Ronnie Herbolzheimer. Readings, lectures, and an international symposium round off the ISOP programme.
