Running Divan with Local/Food
On the road in the region: The Running Divan
Man has been sedentary for thousands of years but he has never ceased to be a partial nomad - both in a literal and in a metaphorical sense. This mobility is also the topic of the ‘Running Divan', a multifunctional truck in regionale08 livery, visiting various locations in south-eastern Styria.
The artist Rainer Prohaska has designed the element at the core of this mobile art-location: the cooking performance 'Food Processing Machine'. Directed by the artist, activated groups of people act as a stylistic device of art performance.
The meeting of the oriental and the occidental cuisines in Auersbach under the Tunisian chef Rafiq Tlatli, who blends regional food across borders to please the taste buds, is meant to be exemplary and experimental at the same time.
In the exhibition ‘EinBlick / zwei Blicke' (One Look / Two Looks), Frauke Bittner investigates the commensality she discovered in co-operation with ISOP in the Running Divan. However, the ‘Running Divan' is more than that; it will also be a DJ-Line on tour and serve as a platform for DJs from the East and the West.
